June: Snow still on the higher peaks, wildflowers in the valleys

In early June, Jungfraujoch and the Aletsch Glacier still have full winter conditions above 3,000m. The valley floors — Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Interlaken — are in full spring bloom. Wildflowers across the meadows, waterfalls at maximum volume from snowmelt, and significantly fewer tourists than July. The light at 6am in the Lauterbrunnen valley in early June is extraordinary. July: Warmer, busier, better for hiking

July temperatures reach 25–28°C in the valleys. All hiking trails at all elevations are fully accessible. The Haute Route between Chamonix and Zermatt is at peak condition. The downside: European school holidays begin mid-July and the popular spots — Zermatt's main street, the Gornergrat railway, Jungfraujoch — are significantly busier. Our recommendation for July: structure the canvas with early starts (before 8am at key viewpoints) and include a less-visited valley day.

What is the best time for Indian travellers specifically?

For Indian travellers flying from major cities, the June 5–25 window is optimal: school holidays in India haven't fully started, Swiss crowds are lower, and the landscape is at its most dramatic. July works well if you're combining Switzerland with France or Italy in a longer Europe canvas — the weather across all three countries is most reliable in July.
